• I run a small catering business. I do pretty well for myself but I almost didn’t have a business. When I had first started the business, I got this one job for a really expensive wedding. This was going to be a big deal for me as it was my first real big event I had catered for. And it was very important to me that I get everything right. The bride and I went over the menu quite extensively, and she picked out a chicken recipe that called for a few hard to find ingredients. I did find a way to buy the main ingredient, but ont the wedding day it was not delivered.

I started panicking about the whole thing because this could blow my chances of ever having a successful business. Lucky for me, a good chef friend of mine knew where he could get enough of my much needed ingredient for me to be able to make the chicken dish the bride had wanted. I finished the dish just in time. The bride loved it. Due to a rather ugly past experience with an angry customer, I make sure that I have everything I need before I give any advice to my customers so that I won’t have to repeat that past experience. What options are available to me if I want to make a favorable impression with a room chock full of anxious people?

Perhaps my task is to help them relax before important interviews. On the heals of the previous leader you can tell your new leader i.e. teacher, pastor or music director. Or perhaps this group of people is from different divisions of a very conflicted company, and I am the consultant leading a weekend workshop to sort out their difficulties: They need to have a new beginning so they can see each other as humans. In any of these situations, I could use some sort of ice breaking activity, or I could get them to focus together on some bizarre task, like the old ‘How would you drop an egg from the tenth story and not break it?

problem. I could try initiating a conversation about a current event, but these days we will become mired quickly in the jitters evoked by the economy. Positive political feelings are on the rise since President Obama took office, but it’s still all too risky to go there. If I ask about Susan Boyle, there’s a slim chance someone will not have seen the You Tube sensation. I know! I will ask everyone about their chicken recipes! Every individual has one or two preferred dishes, and even such persons who do not cook, will certainly know a hotel that supplies something truly scrumptious or imaginative.

Even the vegetarians will know a fantastic salad recipe that be served with or without chicken. I believe that everyone will appreciated the conversations, they will start to become acquainted and at lunch they will be ready to eat! For years people have been overlooking the power of chicken salad. Since before the dawn of time, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been the standard lunch that parents pack for their children. Instead of conforming to the sugary treats that make your kid run wild, why not give them a healthier, nutritious alternative.

Chicken salad can be made out of left over chicken from a previous nights dinner. The Chicken breast is the healthiest part of the chicken when you are cutting a whole chicken apart. Cut up some celery and even garlic if you desire. Add some mayonnaise, the lighter the better. Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. Add salt and or pepper to taste. This recipe can be altered to your liking. What you are left with is a tasty low calorie treat that helps a family have an atypical delicious lunch. Eat on a wrap instead of bread if carbohydrates are an issue.

  • I certainly enjoy the taste of crab meat. It sure is fun wrestling with a whole crab or crab legs. I must mention cold crap claws with spicy cocktail sauce because I like trying to get to the meat. There are so many ways to enjoy crab. Probably one of my favorite is a crab cake. Restaurants all over the country have them at many different price ranges and quality, but I still love them. I wish I could find an easy recipe with crabs for crab cakes. I need a simple recipe which I can prepare in sufficient quantity in a meal because I am not so talented.

In a restaurant a crab cake is almost always served as an appetizer, some offer them as a meal. But I am more inclined to try something else for dinner. At home I would love to make a big plate of crab cakes with a nice side dish and a bottle of white wine. When I was a child we would go to Red Lobster. I remember I loved eating the snow crabs. Oh how I can remember the soft texture of the crab meat with that buttery garlic sauce and how delicious it was. I also used to go over to my best friends house and his sister was in love with crab dip.

I got to try it, and I must say that it is very addicting. I would like to try some crab dip at a restaurant as I have only tried the store-bought variety. They a great to eat by itself or with a little raw veggies or cracker. Joes Crab Shack is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at, and I would love to try their crab soup at some point. Crab is just such a lovely soft meat to eat, and I know it would taste so good in a soup. I will definitely have to make sure I try the crab soup next time I go there.

Lobster, crab, oysters, shrimp, salmon, tilapia, and prawns are some of the seafood I enjoy to eat. Although seafood is one of my favorite foods. Although growing up native I much prefer salmon to anything having grown up on it but prawns and shrimp tend to be a favourite also. One thing I cannot stand is when I order seafood at a restaurant and they bring the entire animal to your table. When I was out with my fiance in a restaurant, he failed to notice the menu which stated whole lobster instead of a lobster tail. The lobster was brought to the table antennaes and all.

Unfortunately that quickly turned him off of the lobster and seeing as it was a seafood restaurant I was forced to eat the lobster while he ordered chinese crab chowder, which was also an interesting experience. As long as she could not see its face looking back at her my fiance agreed to eat it which made for a fun evening.

  • One of the most successful exports of any cuisine has come from China. Chinese food is popular across the world, especially in the United States, the UK, Australia and Western Europe. Westerners tend to group the dishes together but there are many regional differences. Climatic conditions and ethnic make up have contributed to different traditions growing up in different areas. As China has influenced the West, it has worked in reverse too, with more and more fast food chains opening up in China, following a freer economy.

    Chinese Food
The common idea, binding the regions together, is that meals should be pleasing to the eye, be healthily balanced and contain the best, fresh ingredients available. Traditionally, dishes are accompanied by drinking hot tea or hot water, to aid digestion. However, beer and soft drinks with meals has become commonplace in recent years. Meat is very often in the form of chicken and pork. Beef is used too and is sliced very thinly. Vegetables have always been a mainstay of Chinese food and there is a large variety to choose from. As the standard of living has improved, meat has become a larger part of working people’s everyday diet.

One of the most popular international menu choices is Sweet and Sour Pork. Beef is often cooked with noodles, black bean sauce or cashews. Chicken recipes include Lemon Chicken, Honey Chili Chicken or Chicken with Lychees. Chinese food dishes are normally served with bowls of rice or noodles, depending on the region. Vegetables are never overcooked and taste crisp and fresh. The most common vegetables in use include green beans, mung bean sprouts, eggplant, zucchini, and mushrooms. There is also Chinese cabbage, Chinese broccoli and bok choy.

Seafood also has a long tradition in the cuisine, particularly in coastal districts. Both freshwater and deep-sea fish dishes are popular in Chinese food. Prawns, crab, shark fin, squid and scallops are all favorite ingredients. Very often, meals include a steaming hot bowl of soup. Soup is especially welcome in the cold, Chinese winters and is a good way of using up leftovers. Stock is usually made from meat, chicken or vegetables. Sweet Corn Soup is a favorite in the West as is Szechwan Soup, made from ham, pork, mushrooms, red pepper, prawns and chicken stock. One of the most popular regional cuisines internationally, is Cantonese cuisine. These dishes are normally meat or poultry based but do include Shark Fin Soup and Steamed Sea Bass. Cantonese cooks like to stir fry, sauté, steam or deep fry. Chinese food uses soy sauce, rice vinegar or oyster sauce rather than spices to give flavor. More on Searches101.
